Case study: ICC and QlikView
As a dominant player in the buying group industry, the ICC needed a business solution to display the bulk of their data in a way that allows them to make better business decisions. QBCon provided the group with a QlikView solution that gives the decision makers the values, groupings of sales per shop, per provider and per category.
QlikView - The process
QBCon determines with the specific client what their key performance indicators (KPI) are. The KPI is used to determine the data needed to display it visually, after which a QlikView model is constructed. This model pulls the data from the system and displays it both as a dashboard and data mining.
ICC and QlikView
With ICC, QBCon collected all the sales data from their members. They then constructed a model that is able to draw all sales, items, item groupings as well as providers information from their system. This model enables ICC to see if there are any faulty categorisations and anomalies that might be present in the data. QBCon also built a dashboard that gives the values, groupings of sales per shop, per provider and per category. The data model and dashboard development as well as the data input were done in less than three weeks.
QlikView - The benefits
Before QlikView, ICC used a SQL database to collect all the information, and processed it manually with the help of custom reports. QlikView now enables ICC to analyse the data within a fraction of the time, (in comparison to their previous system). They can also use the dashboards to identify any anomalies.
More about the ICC
ICC, established in 2001, consists of large, privately owned, cash and carry operations. They operate as a vehicle that provides trading terms and price negotiation in the industry. The ICC also acts as a ‘cost centre’ for the individual store operations, and all income streams it generates are distributed to the individual store operations.
